Luis Vargas is a wealthy coffee exporter in Cuba in the late 1800's. Luis has arranged a marriage through mail with Julia Russell a woman from Delaware. With pictures of Julia Luis goes to the docks to meet her but finds a much more lovely woman claiming to be his new wife, saying she sent fake pictures to make sure his love was true. But she really is is a con artist who teams up with her lover to steal from other men. But she soon falls in love with her new husband and now must make a huge decision.
