Based on the the story of Lois Jensen and the first successful sexual harassment lawsuit in US history, North Country is a fictionalized account of of what led to this lawsuit. Josey Aimes leaves her violent husband and must work to survive. When she goes to work at the local steel mine she encounters a pervasive atmosphere of harassement from the men. When she decides to fight the status quo she must go it alone as the other female workers do not want to rock the boat. But Josey is tired of being pushed around and decides to push back.
