President Andrew Shepherd, a widowed father of a teenage daughter, whose morals have never been questioned before. Picks the wrong time and person to fall in love with, an election year and a lobbyist. When the lobbyist Sydney Ellen Wade is caught leaving the White House. Sen. Bob Rumson, Shepherds competitor, learns of this and begins to attack his morals. Losing his bid on reelection, President Shepherd must try to salvage his political career.
