Denzel Washington stars as John Creasy an ex-CIA agent who is burned out on life. In Mexico a wave of kidnappings has made its wealthier citizens panic. A friend brings John to be a bodyguard for nine year old Pita Ramos, daughter of industrialist Samuel Ramos. Not wanting to be a bodyguard, but not having anything better to do John accepts the assignment. After seeing her as pestering for a while the little girl begins to get to him and when she is kidnapped, despite being wounded he vows to kill anyone involved.
