This true story follows Joe Pistone(Johnny Depp) as he goes undercover to gain evidence about the New York Mafia. While undercover he forms somewhat of a friendship with a hitman Lefty Ruggiero an is able to lock himself in to the group lead by Sonny Black. As the group grows and Sonny becomes a boss himself, Joe continues to gather evidence. But all of this work is taking a toll on his marraige and personal life. But the friendships he has made will ultimately decide his fate.
