DJay is a small time pimp in Memphis, Tennessee. Times are tough for the purveyor of sex and pleasure. When he discovers that local musician turned superstar Skinny Black is coming back to town for the 4th of July, DJay teams up with Key and Shelby to compile a demo tape to present to the ghetto hero. In a story about an urban personality who turns to music to improve his financial standing versus making music for the sake of art, this lack of pretension which leads to innovative creativity surprises even DJay. Starring: Terrence Howard as DJay (as Terrence Howard), Anthony Anderson as Key (Clyde), Taryn Manning as Nola, Taraji P. Henson as Shug, DJ Qualls as Shelby (as D.J. Qualls), Paula Jai Parker as Lexus, Elise Neal as Yevette, Isaac Hayes as Arnel, Ludacris as Skinny Black, Jordan Houston as Tigga (as Juicy J), William Engram (as William 'Poon' Engram), Bobby Sandimanie as Yellow Jacket (as Bobby 'I-20' Sandimanie).
