Prince Akeem played by Eddie Murphy does not believe in the arranged marriages that are custom in his country. To find a wife he travels to Queens, New York. After finding a place and meeting many women he meets the daughter of a fast food restaurant owner. Getting a job there he tries to become close to this woman, and he does. But when his parents show up unexpectidly from Zamunda and this woman finds out he has been lying to her about his past, Prince Akeem must take extreme measures to win his lady back.
