Jude Law plays Inman a wounded confederate soldier who is on a journey back to his home, Cold Mountain N.C., as well as back to the woman he left behind Ada(Nicole Kidman), when he went off to fight in the Civil War. Along the the way Inman meets a lot of interesting characters, while at home Ada struggles to manage her deceased father's farm with the help of Ruby(Rene' Zellweger).
