Ray Kinsella is a struggling corn farmer in the midwest. When pondering the future Ray hears a voice telling him to build a baseball field. He sinks everything he has into the field while the rest of the town thinks he has gone crazy. Once he has completed the field he leaves to find an influential writer from the 60's, Terence Mann. Ray and Terence end up on a journey that will take them beyond the bounderies of reality and into a existential realm where we all hope to find out who we are and how we got here.
