Zack Mayo is the son of an alcoholic, military father who raised him in the Philippines living on top of a brothel. Now finished with college Zack has decided he wants more for his life so he decides to enroll in the navy's Officer Candidate School to become a jet pilot. While at the school Zack and the other candidates are warned to away from the girls in the area who are looking for naval husbands. But Zack and his bunkmate fall for two of them. He fights his feelings for a while but soon sees that he needs her help to finish his training.
