28 year old computer progammer Peter Gibbons is having a mid-life crisis. His girlfriend is cheating on him and he is sick of the mind numbing routine of his go nowhere job. One day while at a hypnotherapist with his girlfriend Peter is put into a state of bliss but before he can be taken out of it the therapist dies, so Peter is left not caring about anything. Next Peter and a couple of friends from the office hatch a scheme that will lead them to an early and very lucrative retirement.
