Out of nowhere a middle aged baseball player with a mysterious past comes back into the limelight and takes a losing team to the top of the league. Roy Hobbs has been battling his demons ever since he was shot by a woman, when he was a younger more promising baseball player. Now he is back with a bat made out of a tree that was struck by lightening. But it is the choices he makes with his women now that could lead to his downfall again.
