Crash Davis, a veteran minor-league catcher, is assigned to class A Durham with the job to harness a young rookie pitcher named "Nuke LaLoosh". He finds his job is going to be difficult not only because of the rookie but because of a team groopie who every season picks one player to romance. But when both Nuke and Crash would like themselves to be that one person. Their lives and their games take a turn for the better and also for the worst.
