Capt. Alexi Vostrikov is given the command of the nuclear missile submarine named, K-19, at the height of the cold war. His orders get the ship ready to head out to sea and then run patrols no matter what. But a problem arises when Capt. Vostrikov realizes there is something wrong with the core that may lead to a meltdown, and an explosion that will kill everybody on board. Capt. Vostrikov must now make a tough decision, follow his orders, or save his crew.
