This is the story of William, a young squire who has a gift for jousting. When William's master suddenly dies, he and his friends, Roland and Wat, set out across country. Along the way they run into a writer, Chaucer, and since William has no pedigree they have Chaucer write up some documents that will allow him to be a knight. With his new history in hand William sets out to prove himself worthy of being a knight at the country's jousting competition, and finds love along the way.
