Prot, is a mysterious patient at a mental institution. He claims he is from another planet. Psychiatrist Dr. Mark Powell is baffled by the mans behavior because he seems more cheerful than insane. Prot's explanations of the planet he lives on give the other patients the hope that there is something better out there. Claiming he is going to return to his planet at the end of the summer, the other patients want to go with him. As the day of departure draws near, Dr. Powell struggles with his own ability to tell between reality and delusion.
