Insomniac Will Dormer is a detective who is sent to Alaska to investigate the murder of a teenage girl. Attempting to apprehend the suspect Will accidentally shoots his own partner. Instead of admitting this, he is giving an alibi, but this only makes him feel more guilt over his partner's death. Within all of this he still has a murder to solve, in addition to the blackmail and framing of an innocent man. Local detective Ellie Burr is also conducting an investigation of his parnters death.
