Wayne Szalinski is a father, a husband and a crazy scientist. His latest invention is a machine that will shrink things, but all it's done so far is blow things up. One day a baseball comes through the window and into the machine and it starts working. His kids are accidentally shrunk to 1/4 their size, and then thrown in the garbage. The kids must then brave the jungle of the backyard, that has them dodging giant bugs, sprinklers, and a lawnmower so they can get back to the house and be saved.
