Chet Ripley is taking his family on a vacation. The destination is a lakeside resort where Chet spent vacations as a boy. Chet's high hopes for the vacation are spoiled when his obnoxious brother-in-law shows up with his strange snooty family. Chet and his family however try to have a good time, but the constant annoyance of his brother-in-law makes the vacation take a turn for the worse.
