Legendary 40-year old pitcher, Billy Chapel, is pitching in the final game of the season and what could be the final game of his career. On the morning of the game his one time lover, Jane Aubrey, tells him she is leaving for London that night. He also learns he could possibly be traded. As he pitches he is thinking about many things, wanting Jane back, a possible trade. Meanwhile batter after batter go down, he is pitching a perfect game. But does it matter if he loses Jane.
