Based on the Novel The Short Timers, this movie, which is broken down in two parts, takes a look at military life during the Vietnam conflict. The first part follows the training of the Marines on Parris Island. But it follows more closesly the troubled relationship between a brutal drill seargent and one of his misfit squad members. The second part has the men in Hue city in the middle of the battle at the turning point of the war. Told through the eyes of private Joker, a photojournalist, now having to fight for the lives of his squad members Starring: Matthew Modine as Pvt.
