When a documentary film crew, searching for the people of the mist, come upon a river man named Sarone(Jon Voight). In return for his rescue Sarone offers to help them find the tribe they are searching for. When the leader of the film crew Steve Cale is bitten by a tropical bug, Sarone takes over the boat. It soon becomes clear to the rest of the crew that Sarone is not interested in the tribe at all, but searching for the most deadly snake of all, a 40 foot anaconda.
