Peg Boggs, an avon lady, discovers the half finished creation of a mad scientist. The monster named Edward has been living in the neighborhood's old abandoned castle. The scientist who died never got the chance to replace Edward's sheers with normal hands. Peg attempt to bring Edward into her suburban life and finds his dangerous sheers have many talents, a gardner, a hairstylist. But among her skeptical family and gossipy neighbors Edward must try to find his place in the community and the world.
