Captain Jack Aubrey is the British Navy's best Captain. He commands the HMS Surprise, a British war ship. The ship is suddenly attacked by the Acheron, a much larger ship with greater fire power. Despite their disadvantage the surprise stalk the Acheron over two oceans on a journey to the far side of the world on a mission to destroy their French counterpart, knowing full well that this battle could decide the fate of the War.
